The 95th 2016-17 Serie A season was officially opened today at the Mediolanum Forum in Assago. The season will start next weekend and will see Openjobmetis Varese debut on Monday, 3 October at 20:30 on court at Dinamo Sassari. After a speech by Giacomo Zito, the event, presented by Fabio Tavelli, continued with appearances by Egidio Bianchi, president of the Lega, and Federico Zurleni, the new General Manager, who unveiled the new logo of Serie A Lega Basket. Following this, there was also a presentation of the partnership agreement with the online platform ‘Tifosy’, which will allow all 16 companies to have a new and innovative tool that they can use to develop structural / sports projects with the support of their fans, their community and basketball lovers in general. President of the Italian Basketball Federation Gianni Petrucci closed the presentation.

Representing Pallacanestro Varese, who tomorrow night officially begin the season on court at Benfica for the first leg of the away Qualification Round of the FIBA Basketball Champions League, were Chairman Marco Vittorelli, Managing Director Fabrizio Fiorini, Head of Marketing Luna Tovaglieri, and the young player Gianmarco De Vita. Representing Openjobmetis, main sponsor of the Red & Whites, was Daniela Pomarolli.
