Openjobmetis Varese Basketball announces with a great deal of pleasure that it has reached an agreement with player Cameron Wells. Class of 1988, Wells has signed a two-year contract that will bind him to the Red & Whites club until the end of the 2018/19 season. The highly experienced and talented Wells is an American point guard who is very adept at the pick and roll, has an insightful strategic vision of play and who alternates personal solutions with good 3-pointers when playing in a team.

Career
Cameron Louis Wells cut his teeth at The Citadel College in South Carolina where he holds the record of top scorer of all time with 2,049 points. In his first year he reached 14.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists on average until the closure of the NCAA tournament in 2010/11 at 17.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 32 matches, and was honoured with a number of personal awards at the All Southern Conference. He debuted alongside Dutch professionals wearing a Zwolle Landstede jersey (14 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.4 steals with 45% 2-pointers and 30% 3-pointers). He then transferred to Germany where he played at Tubingen. Thanks to his dynamism and his ability to change the pace of play, he was chosen by the Giessen 46ers in 2014/15 (trained by former Roosters Denis Wucherer) to return to Bundesliga after relegation to ProA of the previous year. Achieving promotion at 12.3 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in 36 games, the German team extended the deal with the player for another two seasons. In the last championship, he averaged 14 points (9th best shooter), 4 assists (5th best passer), 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals (53% 2-pointers, 39% 3-pointers and 79% free throws) with a high score of 30 points against Bamberg. Wells is equipped with great defensive attitude and an ability to silently dominate games and, in addition, was trained by NBA legend John Lucas.
