PAOLO MORETTI WINS THE REVERBERI 2015 AWARD
…and the winner is Paolo Moretti, the best Italian coach of the 2014/2015 season. This was decided by a jury of journalists and professionals at the Reverberi 2015 Award - the Oscars of basketball. The event was promoted by the municipality of Quattro Castella (RE) in collaboration with FIP (Italian Basketball Federation) and the Basketball League, and with the support of FIBA, CONI, and USSI (Italian Sports Press Union) now in its 13th edition.
Born in Arezzo on 30th June 1970, Paolo Moretti has coached Basketball Openjobmetis Varese since 2015. Before embarking on his coaching career, he was a professional player with Verona, Virtus Bologna, Peristeri (Greece), Fortitudo Bologna, Siena and Roseto taking part in about 300 matches in Serie A. His honours include three league titles, two Italian Cups, and 2 Italian Super Cups. In the Nationals, he won a silver at the European Championships in 1997 and two golds at the Mediterranean Games. His coaching career began in 2001 with the young players of Virtus Siena. At professional level, he guided Livorno, Brindisi and Reggio Calabria before arriving at Pistoia in 2009, a team that in 3 years he led to the Legadue Championship in the playoff. This year he is the coach at Varese. He succeeds Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia coach, Max Menetti in the Roll of Honour.
