JASON CLARK, A NEW SIGNING AT VARESE BASKETBALL

Basketball Varese is pleased to announce the signing of Jason Clark. American shooting guard, born in 1990, Clark has signed a one-year contract that will keep him at the Red & Whites club until the end of the 2019-2020 season. Effective quality player in attack and solid in defence, Clark wore a Frankfurt jersey last year, and put in an appearance at the EuroCup. In 2016-2017, with an Antwerp jersey, he was named MVP of the Belgian championship.

Andrea Conti, General Manager, Varese Basketball: «Jason accepted our technical offer with a great deal of enthusiasm, and we are very happy. He is a complete player with excellent performance skills who has already had many excellent seasons in Europe and can take on a variety of different roles. We are convinced that he will be able to give much to Coach Caja’s system».

Born in Arlington, Virginia, on 16th January, 1990, Jason Clark trained at the prestigious Georgetown University where, in his final year, he scored 14 points, 4 rebounds and almost 2 assists right of the blocks. His NBA dream fading, he began his career in Europe with the Okapi Aalstar jersey, a team with whom he also played in the EuroChallenge (15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3 assists average per game). After his time at Charleroi the following year, he transferred to Germany in 2014-2015 where he signed an 8-week contract with Göttingen, before returning to Aalst in November 2014. In December of the same year, he moved to Ankara, Turkey, where he showed off his skills, totalling 22 points, 4 rebounds and more than 3 average assists in the 22 games played. Clark stayed in the Turkish capital for the following season with excellent stats, but it was in 2016-2017 that he definitively made his mark. Back in Belgium, with an Antwerp jersey, he was the leading player in the season with 16 points, 3.6 rebounds and an average of 4.5 assists per game, stats that earned him the Pro Basketball League MVP award. He again wore an Antwerp jersey in the following season before moving to the Skyliners in Frankfurt in 2018-2019. In Germany, teaming up with former Red & White Tyler Larson, he played to an exceptional standard both in the league (14.5 points and 3 assists per game) and in the EuroCup (12 points and 3 assists per game).
