CONTI: «PALLACANESTRO VARESE, THE CITY’S HERITAGE»

Andrea Conti, new general manager at Openjobmetis Varese Basketball, was officially presented to the press today. At the PALA2A, Giancarlo Gualco Conference Hall, Conti, flanked by Chairman Marco Vittorelli and Counsellor Antonio Bulgheroni, made himself available to journalists who had the opportunity to meet him and get to know the guidelines of the Red & White’s future.

«We welcome Andrea -stated Marco Vittorelli opening the conference-. He enthusiastically accepted the task that we laid before him. We got to this moment after Claudio Coldebella’s decision to commit to the Kazan project. The fact that an important Russian team had designs on one of our managers is testimony to the excellent work he did at Varese Basketball and for which we thank him from the bottom of our hearts».

«We wish Claudio the best for the future -continued Antonio Bulgheroni-. We spent two great years with him which culminated with qualification to the playoffs last season. When the board asked me to find a replacement, I immediately thought of Andrea for two reasons. The first is from the fact that Cremona had always done a great job, even with a limited budget, and managed to get good results. The second, however, is because of the bond he has had with Varese, having donned a Red & White jersey as a player for several seasons. I am convinced that he will do very well with us».

«I would like to thank Varese Basketball and the ownership for this opportunity -Andrea Conti began-. The call from Bulgheroni was a bolt from the blue, an opportunity to take a step forward in my career. I would also like to publicly thank the chairman of Cremona for having had the sensitivity to understand my choice. Those who preceded me here did a great job and I hope I can do the same. I begin here at the Red & Whites with a great deal of enthusiasm. I find a very structured company made up of people who were ready and willing to help right from the beginning. I believe the prerequisites are in place for us to do well. From a technical point of view, the team is practically already well assembled with players whose characteristics reflect Attilio Caja’s coaching style. I just need a few days to become familiar with the structure in order to set the guidelines for the future. I would like Varese Basketball to become part of the city’s heritage, just as it was in the days when I played here. I am aware that things have changed, but all that history must not be forgotten, and here we do indeed have a lot of history».
