BASKETBALL VARESE TAKES ON DOMINIQUE JOHNSON

Openjobmetis Varese Basketball announces that it has reached an agreement with Dominique Johnson. American shooting guard Johnson, born in 1987, signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the end of Red & White’s season.

Career:

Cutting his teeth in the small California college of Azusa Pacific, he was chosen by Idaho Stampede on the third round of the draft for the NBA Development League. From January 2011, he played with the Texas Legends (18.2 points and more than 45% on court in 2 seasons), Canton Charge and Sioux Falls. He arrived in Europe in 2013 and won the Polish Cup with Śląsk Wroclaw and was recognised in the following season at Siarka Tarnobrzeg as best scorer in the league with 23 points on average per game and best shooter from behind the key (51.3%) . Taken on in February by Maccabi Rishon Le-Zion, he closed the season with 14.8 points in 20 matches. His stats and percentages in Israel (44.6% 3 pointers and almost 90% free throws) aroused the attention of Banvit, who hired him for the 2015/2016 season. With the Turkish team, he demonstrated his worth by totalling 13.5 in the championship and 14.6 points in the Eurocup where he turned out to be the fourth best 3-point shooter in the competition. An excellent defender who creates good plays off the dribble, he began the season at Alba Berlin by scoring total 10.9 points, 2.1 assists in 27 minutes on average between the championship and the cup.
