The Varese Basketball ‘for Schools’, presentation was held in the early afternoon of today, Friday 8 February 2019, at the Enerxenia Arena ‘Giancarlo Gualco’ conference room, the initiative that includes the projects ‘Basketball: a school of life’, ‘School-Work Exchange’ and ‘At School with Giangallo’ and through which the Red & Whites club renew its ongoing commitment to promoting basketball and the value of sport in schools in Varese and the province.

‘Basketball: a school of life’, is now in its seventeenth year, and is organised with the assistance of Intesa Sanpaolo and conveyed to local schools with the inestimable cooperation of the Varese Province Education Office. Underlying this innovation, there is always an aim to promote basketball, a symbol of our city sport, that has popularised the name of Varese in Italy and throughout Europe.

The players from Openjobmetis Varese Basketball and of Handicap Sport Varese will be present to talk to the children about how you can achieve the highest levels in sport and life with dedication and willpower. The athletes will be the testament to the keystone nature of sport in the growth of children. “Basketball: sport as a training ground for the pursuit of happiness, passion and self- actualisation” is the slogan that the athletes will take with them and explore together with primary and secondary school pupils.

The ‘Basketball: a school of life’ project has not changed in its four areas – school meetings, live basketball, the ‘The banner: between support and passion’ competition, and the ‘Basketball: sport as a training ground for the pursuit of happiness, passion and self- actualisation’ competition. The dedication of Varese Basketball on the school front will allow even this year the doors of the club to open up to the Red & White’s School-Work Exchange Project.

During the season, around a dozen boys will experience the company's daily life in a variety of different areas – from the point of view of organisation to marketing, communications, ticketing, and event organisation at the headquarters in Piazza Monte Grappa with all the staff, and also a series of psychology of sport and sport facility safety lessons provided by industry professionals. Varese Basketball for School for the 2018/2019 season also includes – At school with Giangallo, a new initiative designed to involve small children.

Varese Basketball’s mascot, accompanied by the instructors of the Varese Basketball Academy, will visit children in nursery and primary schools with the aim of facilitating the discovery of the Red & White’s values through play. Participants will receive a Varese Basketball, printed activity book with games, trivia, and figures to colour in. Finally, all children will receive a coupon that will allow them to experience a live Openjobmetis Varese Basketball game with their mums and dads.
