VARESE MOURNS THE PASSING OF RENATO PADOVAN
May 18, 2017
Basketball Varese is mourning the passing of Renato Padovan, pioneer of the great Ignis and instrumental in the conquest of the first Varese scudetto in 1961. Born in Venice in 1934, Padovan played from 1957 to 1963 with a Yellow & Blue jersey. He had previously won three scudettos with Borletti in Milan (1953, 1954 and 1957), and wearing a Blue Jersey at the 1953 Mediterranean Games. When he left basketball, he settled in Varese and focused on advertising for Giovanni Borghi’s Ignis. On this sad occasion, The Red & Whites club’s thoughts and prayers are with his wife Tomassina and his children Stefania, Susanna and Simone.
