VARESE BASKETBALL COACHING STAFF FINALISED

Openjobmetis Varese Basketball announces the completion of the First Team coaching staff for the upcoming season with the appointment of Matteo Jemoli, Raimondo Diamante and Massimo Bulleri. Jemoli, Diamante and Bulleri will be on the Red & Whites bench alongside Coach Attilio Caja as assistants. Caja and the staff will work in close collaboration with athlete coach Marco Armenise, who has been reconfirmed at the Red & Whites for the 10th consecutive season.

Matteo Jemoli began his career as a coach in the youth teams at Fides Gemonio (2006/2007) and Laveno Basketball (2007/2008). In 2008, he then started working for Varese Basketball where his work initially focused on the junior teams – in 2008/2009 he was assistant coach for the Under 14s, Under 17s and Under 19s teams, while in the following season he continued to train the Under 17s and Under 19s. In 2009/2010, he also collaborated in the training sessions led by Stefano Pillastrini in Legadue. With the return of Varese Basketball to Serie A, he also achieved his first full-time role with the first team. In 2010/2011, he became the assistant to Carlo Recalcati. He continued on the Varese bench for another five championships. During this time, Jemoli worked with Carlo Recalcati, Francesco Vitucci, Fabrizio Frates, Gianmarco Pozzecco and then Attilio Caja. In the last two seasons, he was at Trapani Basketball as Ugo Ducarello’s deputy coach. Jemoli, in addition to his experience at the club, also collaborated with the Cameroon Women's National Team in the summer of 2015 and 2016.
Raimondo Diamante began his training career in the 2009/2010 season in the youth teams at Sumirago and then in January 2011 at Varese Basketball, where he became assistant coach of the ‘Eccellenza’ Under 13s (2011/2012) and then assistant coach of the Under 14s with Andrea Sterzi (2012/2013 ). In the 2013/2014 season, he moved on to Robur et Fides where, in three years he coached almost all the Blue & Yellow youth teams and then in Serie B in 2015/2016 as First Team assistant coach. After doing his time at Robur, Diamante returned to Varese Basketball where he was assistant coach at Openjobmetis in the 2016/2017 season.
Massimo Bulleri, after rounding off a fabulous career last season as a player with the Varese jersey, is now embarking on his first experience as a coach. In his career, he has won two scudettos, four Italy Cups, two Italian Supercups and four MVP titles, playing in two Euroleague Final Fours and in a Eurocup Final Four. He is one of the most well-known and esteemed players in Italian basketball, totalling 134 appearances with the national team, winning a Silver at the Athens Olympics in 2004, a Bronze at the European Championship in Sweden in 2003 and a Bronze at the Tunis Mediterranean Games in 2001.
Marco Armenise graduated with honours from the University of Insubria of Varese and received a Master's in Sport Science from the State University of Milan. He then began to work as a preparatory assistant with a number of sports companies in the province and privately as a physical trainer for elite athletes. In 2008/2009, he began his adventure at Varese Basketball as physical prep manager of the First Team, who were moved up to Serie A and, today, he begins his 10th season with the Red & Whites.
