OPENJOBMETIS VARESE RECRUITS THE POINT-GUARD ANTERO LEHTO

Pallacanestro Openjobmetis Varese is glad to announce that it has recruited Antero Lehto. A Finnish point-guard born in 1984, Lehto signed an agreement to play with the “white and red” club until the end of the current sport season. Lehto is having his first experience in the Italian championship after playing with the Finnish team Pyrinto Tampere.

Lehto is the true flag of the Pyrinto Tampere, the team of the city where he was born and with which he started playing in the youth league since his early beginnings with the first team. In 2006, he decided to leave Pyrinto to play with UU-Korihait Uusikaupunki. However, his experience away from Tampere only lasted a short period of time and ended after only one season. In 2007, he went back to Pyrinto and he became one of the best players in the Finnish top series. He also participated in the EuroChallenge and the Baltic League as captain. Lehto’s career is full of trophies thanks to the three Finnish championships that he won, as well and the 2013 Finland Cup. Among his personal awards, he was best defender in the 2012 Finnish championship and player of the year in the past season. Lehto began to play in the National league in 2014, when he was also drafted for the World Championship in Spain. During that season, he averaged 16.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3 assists in the Korisliiga, while in the Baltic League he averaged 12.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
